In today's world of instant gratification, meditation may sound painful. (If it does then you should start building this invaluable habit today!) I have been meditating for the last 3 years and I have seen profound changes in terms of emotional and mental stability. Here are the reasons why you should start meditating today!

Less Noise: Brain likes to chatter, a lot! Throughout the whole day, it keeps on producing thoughts. I like to call the mind a "random thought generator". What thoughts come up are not in your control but whether you want to focus on them or not is. Meditation builds this ability to select your thoughts and you learn how to ignore wasteful ones.

More Focus: When you meditate you are supposed to focus on your breath and be in the present moment. When you notice your brain wandering off, you nudge yourself again to your breath. This nudging builds your brain's focus muscle. Just like when you are working out, each repetition makes you stronger, in the same manner, each time you regain your concentration, you are building your ability to focus.

No Overreacting/Overthinking: After incorporating meditation, slowly you will start to learn how to be in present. Manier times things are not that bad but brain just makes it so. The result is meaningless suffering. Save your mental energy and relationships by just looking at how the things are in reality.
